Post-doctoral Fellow

Two Post-doctoral Fellow positions are immediately available in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.  The appointees will develop a lab-on-a-chip system for biomolecular detection and quantification. 

Applicants should have a PhD degree in bioengineering, biochemistry, mechanical or electrical engineering.  Expertise and experience in the following areas are highly desirable: Microfluidic device design and fabrication; Biomedical system instrumentation, automation, and integration; Optical system for bioimaging and biodetection.  Hands-on experience in molecular biology, PCR and bioassays is required. (Duration: 1 year, renewable) 

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.

Faculty Position in Materials Technology

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a substantiation-track faculty position in Materials Technology.     

The position is open to all areas of advanced materials, including structural materials, nanostructured materials, multi-functional materials and biomaterials. Applicants should have a PhD in mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, or related engineering fields, and are expected to have recognized pertinent academic, research and/or industrial experience. Those familiar with combined experimental and computational/theoretical approaches in multidisciplinary environment are encouraged to apply.

The appointment will be based in the Department of MAE which possesses world-leading expertise in aeroacoustics, materials, manufacturing, and energy areas. Successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally-funded research program as well as contribute fully to both undergraduate and graduate teaching across the Department. The appointee will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the University with access to world class facilities.

Joint Faculty position in Electronic and Computer Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

The Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology invite applications for a joint faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the interdisciplinary area of aerospace engineering. Applicants should have a PhD with demonstrated strength in research and a strong commitment to teaching. Successful candidates are expected to lead an active research program and promote synergy between ECE and MAE in the aerospace program. Areas of research and interests may include: Reliable Systems Design, Sensors System Design, Data Integration and Analysis, Green Aviation and UAV with focus in Aerospace applications. Other areas which can promote synergy between ECE and MAE may also be considered.

Faculty Position in Green Aviation and Propulsion

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a newly created substantiation-track faculty position in the area of new propulsion including battery, hybrid, fuel cell and green propulsion technologies.

The University places emphasis on developing new engineering design and better scientific understanding related to green aviation. Applicants should have a PhD in aerospace/aeronautical engineering or related engineering field.
