BEng in Mechanical Engineering
The Program
The program is designed for students who aspire to become high-caliber mechanical professionals in Hong Kong. The curriculum is divided into three stages. The first concentrates on the fundamentals of solid mechanics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, thermal sciences, manufacturing, design, materials, and computers. The second integrates engineering sciences with laboratory work and exposes students to state-of-the-art equipment. The third stage comprises electives in one of the following specializations: (i) Building Services, Energy and Environmental Engineering, (ii) Mechatronics, Design and Manufacturing, and (iii) Mechanics and Materials. Students will participate in an integrated Final-Year-Design-Project and may join an industrial-based Co-op program in their last year of study.


Features and Highlights
The curriculum is composed of a balanced coverage of Mechanics and Materials, Thermal and Fluids, Control and Design in the foundation year, accompanied by additional training of quantitative analytical skill. Hands-on laboratory experiences and independent research opportunities are provided throughout the years of study. Students will be able to study Engineering Management and Law minor program, which is led by Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, during their study period.

Professional Recognition
The BEng Mechanical Engineering Program was granted Full Accreditation in 2008 by Hong Kong Institute of Engineer for all intake classes up to and including the year of 2013.

Since March 2010, the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering Program has been granted accreditation by Marine Department, HKSAR.
