Professor Ciucci received a Diplôme d'Ingénieur (B.Sc.) from Ecole Centrale Paris, France (class of 2001), and the Laurea (M.Eng.) in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy in 2003. He continued his education at the California Institute of Technology, USA, where he obtained M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 and 2009 respectively. Before joining the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Scientific Computing of the University of Heidelberg, Germany. His research focuses on energy conversion and storage, numerical methods for partial differential equations, engineering design, and optimal experimental design.
